Minutes of CPPA Negotiation Conference Call Jan. 29, 2003

Attendees:  Marty Sachs, Dale Moberg, Monica Martin, Jean Zheng

Marty announced that IBM will be submitting a revised intellectual property disclosure to OASIS tomorrow.  The purpose is to identify the unpublished patent application that is mentioned in the disclosure.  The referenced patent application has been published by the US Patent and Trademarks Office on its web site.  Publication in this manner is required by law whenever the processing of a patent application is not completed within 18 months of submission. The name of the patent application is “Automated Dynamic Negotiation of Electronic Service Contracts”.  It is USPTO publication number 20020178103.  It can be found by selecting patents on the search-type dropdown.  The next web page includes a link for searching on publications.

Dale stated that he is trying to arrange a CPPA face to face meeting co-located with a Messaging team face to face.  It is proposed to hold these meetings at the UN/CEFACT meeting March 10-14 in San Diego, CA.

No one was ready for a detailed discussion of the new draft specification that was posted to the web site earlier this week.  This should be the main order of business in February.

Monica briefly discussed some comments that she submitted earlier today.  Some relate to the Futures document and consist of suggestions for more detailed discussion of some topics and suggestions for an improved ordering of topics.  Others relate to the draft specification including a proposed improvement to the discussion of figure 2 and a reminder that a request to clarify section 13.13 regarding transitions to different business states.

Marty reminded the group that there is a large number of loose ends to be dealt with before we can more the draft forward as an OASIS specification.  All loose ends are documented in the current version of the draft. He said that is essential that the team go through the document page by page and make decisions about the loose ends.

The call was adjourned at 3:35 PM US Eastern time.

Respectively submitted,

Martin Sachs
