Minutes of CPPA Negotiation Conference Call Jan. 8, 2003

Attendees:  Marty Sachs, Dale Moberg, Jean Zheng, Monica Martin, Neelakantan Kartha

Discussion:

1.      Discussed December efforts.

2.      Marty is waiting for more inputs on Negotiation specification in addition to those received from Moberg and Martin.

3.      Jean has almost completed the messaging specification, section 12.

4.      Everyone asked to review the specification.

Jean raised the question of how to keep track of changes to the CPA during the negotiation process. What happens to content changes and tracking and how does that affect the negotiation (if a new element is inserted)? Should we write out the update to a location where it is accessible?  This is more efficient than trying to resend all the information.  She proposed that the sender of each offer or counter-offer message include the URL of the current partially completed CPA. She will work on this.

On the question: What about error handling during the negotiation process? Jean is working on revisions to messaging specification that will answer most Chapter 12 questions raised by Monica.  On error handling, Zheng is changing the name “status” to “message type” She will create an element like 'error' or 'error code.'  Use another optional field for comments. Per Marty previously, errors have been combined in Section 12 and the message schema will support all of them. Error conditions which can be reported in negotiation messages are to be processed by the negotiation application.

The call was adjourned at 3:25 PM US Eastern time.

Respectively submitted,

Monica Martin
