Item 4 New Issues
Remove dependencies on SCA Policy and SCA WS Binding
https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/SCAASSEMBLY-8
Jim M discusses this new issue
a) burden of supporting all the technologies
b) WS not so relevant today
Mike: which version was this issue aimed at?
Mike:I note that V1.1 would require a supermajority vote; regular majority for a later version.
Ashok: How much effort would be required to modify the specifications? I think it would be a lot of work
Anish Karmarkar: all conformant impl require that they consume wsdl interfaces (for remotable)
Jeff: And which version is this against? We have V1.1 & V2 (with the Event Processing stuff)
Anish Karmarkar: but the conformant impl must be able to consume
Discussion of the required changes implied by not supporting WS binding
- what about support for WSDL? That is required in parts of the spec
- there is also the question of the test suite
MartinC: I have to drop for another call
Anish Karmarkar: i can't see this being a 1.1.1
Anish Karmarkar: this is a huge change
Anish Karmarkar: what i mean is that this is a breaking change
Item 5 Status of other TCs
- Bindings
- Policy
- Java
Simon: Bindings TC is awaiting this discussion in Assembly
- would affect whether specs could be moved to committee spec level
Anish Karmarkar: i can't see what binding.ws means without assembly
Anish Karmarkar: so, i don't think binding is being blocked by assembly
Anish: I assume that the issue raised by Jim is about decoupling
Mike: Bindings clearly depends on Assembly
Anish Karmarkar: my point is that binding is not waiting on assembly for anything
Simon: At the moment Assembly is blocked from getting to committee spec by its dependence on WS binding
Anish Karmarkar: wrt java and bpel, exit criteria has not been met
Anish Karmarkar: for bpel we don't have 2 impls
Anish Karmarkar: for java, we have one impl for POJO and one for spring
Anish Karmarkar: but spring is still a draft
Anish Karmarkar: java and bpel TCs haven't met in a while
Jim: conformance claim for Fabric3 to Policy: https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/sca-policy/email/archives/201303/msg00006.html
Item 6 Date on Next Meeting
