1. Agenda
This meeting is set
mainly to try efficiency of IRC.
Otherwise, the agenda has a single formal point: organization of next
F2F in London XML Europe(May 2003).
2. Setting of IRC
working process
The meeting is quite slow to start, some members being late, and two more
having connection problems. Peter Flynn is appointed as moderator, given
his experience of IRC. At some point in the meeting, asking and distributing
the floor seeming to slow too much the process, the meeting continues
in non-moderated form. This seems to make everyone happy, and given the
size and (relative) discipline of attendance, this form is agreed on for
further meetings. Chair will only make necessary order interventions.
3. London meeting
agenda
- From the experience
of Baltimore TC meetings, it seems now preferable to have PubSubj meeting
after XMLvoc and GeoLang meetings, since specific issues raised by the
latter are now necessary input for general recommendations to proceed
(Mary and Lars Marius remark, seconded by Steve)
- Proposal to have
the three TC meetings on Friday May 9th, with the following schedule
to be approved by XMLvoc and GeoLang: XMLvoc 9:00-11:00 ; GeoLang 11:00-13:00
; PubSubj 14:00-16:00
- Eric will ask
OASIS for room facilities, and his company Lexis-Nexis to sponsor call-in
facilities for members who will not be in London (including himself)
4. Other business
- Next IRC meeting:
TC work needs to be speeded up, so it's suggested by Mary, seconded
by Lars Marius, Bernard and Steve, to hold IRC meetings every two weeks.
Discussion about hour of meeting to fit people from California to Japan
through Europe. Next meeting is scheduled for February 6th, 14:00 UTC.
- Current status
of Deliverable 1: Steve expresses his difficulties in re-writing work
- "it's like squeezing blood from a stone" - and apologizes
for not having it achieved yet. Promises to make it by the beginning
of next week. Remaining issues in this document, if any, will be pointed
at and discussed during next IRC meeting.
- Future status of
Deliverable 1: Bernard expresses his concerns about the status of Deliverable
1 once it is approved as a TC specification. Does the TC want to propose
it as an OASIS standard, and/or propose it to ISO for integration in
ISO 13250 "family of standards"?
General consensus is on pushing it as an OASIS standard.
Following clarification discussion on the border between TM specification
(SAM) and PubSubj recommendations. The former defines the concepts,
and the second how to use them - what happens when you dereference the
subject identifier. So there is not much sense in pushing PubSubj recommendations
back into ISO. Another argument for that is Published Subjects interest
being wider in scope than strict topic maps applications, so PubSubj
recommendations should not appear like trapped in the Topic Maps attractor.
7. Next meeting
- IRC meeting
February 6th 14:00 UTC
Agenda : remaining issues in Deliverable 1
