Comment:This section of the technical document describes the Cryptoki version structure. Therefore, my feeling is the TEXT submitted in this ballot would be better worded as clear direct requirement that implementations 2.x and 3.x must be be compatible. The table of official versions only identifies 1.x, 2.x, and 3.x, which have been put before the committee, so I also believe it is premature to imply a version 4. A suggestion for the editor is to replace the entire proposed TEXT with:
"Upward compatibility between major version numbers is not required, except between major version numbers 2 and 3." |
