30-day Public Review for OASIS SAML V2.0 Change Notify Protocol v1.0
The OASIS Security Services (SAML) TC members have recently produced an updated Committee Specification Draft (CSD) and submitted this specification for 30-day public review:
SAML V2.0 Change Notify Protocol Version 1.0
Committee Specification Draft 01 / Public Review Draft 01
22 February 2011
Overview: "The SAML V2.0 Change Notify Protocol describes request and response messages for informing SAML endpoints about available changes to subjects and attributes associated with subjects. The Change Notify Protocol is a message exchange protocol by which a service provider (e.g. web service provider, identity provider) notifies a federated service provider of changes to principals and related attributes in a federated system. After notification, the receiver of the notification is then able to take an appropriate action to effect appropriate changes to affected principals. This message exchange protocol uses the SAML Protocols V2.0 ('Assertions and Protocols for the OASIS Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) V2.0') and bindings ('Bindings for the OASIS Security Association Markup Language (SAML) V2.0')."
The OASIS Security Services (SAML) TC was chartered to to "define, enhance, and maintain a standard XML-based framework for creating and exchanging authentication and authorization information.
Inter- and intra-enterprise application architectures require interoperable security solutions that transcend the boundaries of single security domains. The interoperable exchange of security information between domains, including the ability to federate identities across such domains, is crucial to developing solutions for business problems such as performing Web Single Sign-On, utilizing distributed authorization services, and securing e-business transactions."
Public Review Period: The public review starts today, 04 April 2011 and ends 04 May 2011.
This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.
