Open Matters is a virtual series designed to spark dialogue & foster community thinking for open source & standards collaboration. Led by OASIS Executive Director, Guy Martin, these forums are informal gatherings that will engage the open development ecosystem, addressing key topics within open source and open standards communities, while helping facilitate cross-industry collaboration.
Each discussion will include interviews with technology luminaries as they share their insights and debate issues on topics that matter to both the open standards and open source world. A live discussion with the audience will complete each event.
Next discussion: Buyer’s Guide to Foundations
Starting up a new open source or standards project, or forking one? Governance is likely on your mind (or at least it should be). How do you build your community and ensure that you can get wide adoption and collaboration beyond just your own organization? Early on in a project, you can probably go it alone, but, history has shown that as projects get bigger and more complex, with more players, a need for independent and neutral governance becomes critical.
Join us for the next Open Matters episode, where Guy Martin sits down with OASIS Board member Rich Bowen of Red Hat to get his take on what projects should be looking for as they search for a Foundation or Consortium that meets their needs.
