Rich Bowen serves on the Board of Directors; his term extends through 2022. Rich has been involved in Open Source since the mid 90s (before it was called open source) and has participated in a variety of project communities, starting with Perl. The majority of his open source time has been with the Apache Software Foundation, where he has participated in the Apache Web Server project since about 1998, and been a member of the Foundation since 2002. Rich served a total of 6 terms on the Board of Directors of the ASF, and currently serves as VP of Conferences, in charge of ApacheCon and other ASF events. Rich is employed at Red Hat, in the Open Source Program Office, and a Community Manager for the CentOS Project. Rich lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife Maria and daughter Elise. They also have two older kids, Isaiah and Rhiannon, in college.
