Wende Peters

Secretary

Bank of America

Wende Peters serves on the Board of Directors; her term extends through 2022. She created and leads the Application Management and Continuous Deployment (AMCD) organization within Global Information Security at Bank of America. She is charged with enacting an organizational transformation in DevOps, employing automation in Continuous Deployment and establishing an Agile Service model for the governance, deployment and operations of custom-developed information security applications. Prior to joining the Bank, Wende was a Principal at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where she was the lead for Integrated Cyber Operations programs across multiple US Government agencies, including DHS, NSA, FBI, and DOD. Wende was a key leader in defining and promoting the Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR) industry segment. She envisioned and established the Integrated Adaptive Cyber Defense (IACD) framework for automated cybersecurity operations and created a public-private partnership and a cross-industry community of interest to advance cybersecurity orchestration. Wende has been active in advocating for open standards for command languages for machine actions and shareable orchestration playbooks for cybersecurity – now both OASIS Technical Committees. Her team created one of the first ever reference implementations of OASIS OpenC2 standards, demonstrated at the Integrated Cyber conference (https://www.iacdautomate.org/). In this role, she established a pilot automation program with multiple financial institutions and the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) to deploy and measure automated defense orchestration. Wende brings nearly 30 years of experience as an architect and leader in complex systems design and in program strategy and planning, applying those to diverse areas including: cybersecurity, network management, spacecraft control systems, missile systems, and satellite ground systems. She has a Master’s degree in Applied Computer Systems from University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Saint Mary’s College of Maryland.
