30-day Public Review for #CAMP Test Assertions V1.1 tests a new way to provide comments – ends 02 April

The OASIS Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP) TC [1] members have recently approved a Committee Specification Draft (CSD) and submitted this specification for 30-day public review:

Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP) Test Assertions Version 1.1
Committee Specification Draft 01 / Public Review Draft 01
12 February 2014

With the release we are testing a convenience option for submitting comments to the Technical Committee. Please see the details under ‘Public Review Period’ below.

Specification Overview:

The specification defines the Test Assertions for version 1.1 of the OASIS Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP) specification. Test Assertions are testable or measurable expressions related to normative statements in a specification for evaluating if an implementation (or part of it) conforms to this specification. These Test Assertions are intended to be used for defining precisely the conditions required by a CAMP implementation in order to conform. They support the testing activity by acting as a bridge between the normative statements in the specification and the executable test cases that are parts of a conformance test suite.

TC Description:

The OASIS CAMP TC advances an interoperable protocol that cloud implementers can use to package and deploy their applications. CAMP defines interfaces for self-service provisioning, monitoring, and control. Based on REST, CAMP is expected to foster an ecosystem of common tools, plugins, libraries and frameworks, which will allow vendors to offer greater value-add.

Common CAMP use cases include:

– moving on-premise applications to the cloud (private or public)
– redeploying applications across cloud platforms from multiple vendors

Public Review Period:

The public review starts 03 March 2014 at 00:00 GMT and ends 02 April 2014 at 23:59 GMT.

This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.

With this public review, we are testing a new convenience feature for sending comments to the Technical Committee. The file http://docs.oasis-open.org/camp/camp-ta/v1.1/csprd01/camp-ta-v1.1-csprd01-COMMENT-TAGS.html contains the HTML version of the draft with a “[comment?]” link next to each section heading. Clicking on this link will launch your email application and begin a message to the camp-comment@lists.oasis-open.org with the specific section number and title in the subject line. (For example, “Public review comment for camp-ta-v1.1-csprd01: 2.3 Anatomy of a Test Assertion.”) Simply enter your comment and click send.

You must be subscribed to the camp-comment@lists.oasis-open.org mailing list in order to send your comments. Instructions on how to subscribe can be found at https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/comments/index.php?wg_abbrev=camp

Note that the Table of Contents doesn’t work in this version. That is one of the items we need fix before making this more broadly available. Please feel free to let us know if you find this feature helpful. We plan to refine it and make it a part of our normal public review process.
