30-day Public Review for WS-Calendar Platform Independent Model (PIM) V1.0

The OASIS Web Services Calendar (WS-Calendar) TC [1] members have recently approved a Committee Specification Draft (CSD) and submitted this specification for 30-day public review:

WS-Calendar Platform Independent Model (PIM) Version 1.0
Committee Specification Draft 01 / Public Review Draft 01
26 April 2013

Specification Overview:

The Platform Independent Model is an abstract model that will be used as the basis for determining conformance of additional models and communications with WS-Calendar and with Xcal, which is based on IETF RFCs. This is a Platform Independent Model following the Object Management Group’s Model-Driven Architecture. The Platform Dependent Model that this specification abstracts from is the full model for WS-Calendar as expressed in XML (xCal).

The focus of this Platform Independent Model is on passing schedule and interval information with attachments.

TC Description:

The OASIS WS-Calendar TC works to adapt existing calendaring standards (used in human interactions) for Web services. WS-Calendar is designed for use inside other specifications and standards, bringing a common scheduling and performance allignment to service coordination, including between domains.

The Committee bases its initial work on the iCalendar (IETF RFC 5545) XML serialization specification from CalConnect.

Public Review Period:

The public review starts 20 May 2013 at 00:00 GMT and ends 29 June 2013 at 23:59 GMT.

This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.
