30-day Public Review for #WS-Calendar Platform Independent Model (PIM) V1.0 – ends June 20th

The OASIS Web Services Calendar (WS-Calendar) TC TC members [1] have produced an updated Committee Specification Draft (CSD) and submitted this specification for 30-day public review:

WS-Calendar Platform Independent Model (PIM) Version 1.0
Committee Specification Draft 02 / Public Review Draft 02
09 May 2014

With these releases we are testing a convenience option for submitting comments to the Technical Committee. Please see the details under ‘Public Review Period’ below.

Specification Overview:

The Platform Independent Model is an abstract model that will be used as the basis for determining conformance of additional models and communications with WS-Calendar and with Xcal, which is based on IETF RFCs. This is a Platform Independent Model following the Object Management Group’s Model-Driven Architecture.

The Platform Dependent Model that this specification abstracts from is the full model for WS-Calendar as expressed in XML (xCal).

TC Description:

The OASIS WS-Calendar TC works to adapt existing calendaring standards (used in human interactions) for Web services. WS-Calendar is designed for use inside other specifications and standards, bringing a common scheduling and performance alignment to service coordination, including between domains.

The Committee bases its initial work on the iCalendar (IETF RFC 5545) XML serialization specification from CalConnect.

Public Review Period:

The public review starts 22 May 2014 at 00:00 GMT and ends 20 June 2014 at 23:59 GMT. The specification was previously submitted for public review [2]. Because the specification was extensively re-written, the TC has requested that the review be for the full draft.

This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.

With this public review, we are testing a new convenience feature for sending comments to the Technical Committee. The file:

http://docs.oasis-open.org/ws-calendar/ws-calendar-pim/v1.0/csprd02/ws-calendar-pim-v1.0-csprd02-COMMENT-TAGS.html

contains the HTML version of the draft with a “[comment?]” link next to each section heading. Clicking on this link will launch your email application and begin a message to ws-calendar-comment@lists.oasis-open.org with the specific section number and title in the subject line. (For example, “Public review comment for ws-calendar-pim-v1.0-csprd02.pdf: 1.1 References”) Simply enter your comment and click send.

You must be subscribed to the ws-calendar-comment@lists.oasis-open.org mailing list in order to send your comments. Instructions on how to subscribe can be found at https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/comments/index.php?wg_abbrev=ws-calendar.

Note that the Table of Contents doesn’t work in this version and other internal document links may not work in these files. That is one of the items we need fix before making this capability more broadly available. Please feel free to let us know if you find this feature helpful. We plan to refine it and make it a part of our normal public review process.
