At OASIS, the technical agenda is set by members, who are free to start and advance efforts of interest to them. Work is conducted using a lightweight process expressly designed to promote industry consensus and unite disparate efforts. Completed work is ratified by open ballot.

Technical Committees (TCs) are the primary means by which OASIS standards are developed and advanced. Adoption Committees may also be formed to promote the use of one or more related standards.

Anyone holding membership in OASIS is eligible to participate in any Committee; new members are welcome at any time. There are no additional eligibility requirements or barriers to participation.

Everyone with a sincere interest in developing quality open standards is invited to initiate new work at OASIS.
