Progress!

Please review this email from Chet Ensign and the attached files for next Monday's meeting! July 24th, 2023

It will be the main item on the agenda.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

PS: I'd like to get this approved, with comments come Monday (plus advice on the Annex headers).

Jamie, Patrick,

We had agreed in an email message to make some relatively easy modifications to the ODF standard before submitting the package to ISO in order to address some of their part 2 requirements. This was based on the information we've had that ISO's production department has relaxed some of their expectations for subsequent submissions and we would make some changes, in addition to the work you all did in the text, to make the gap less.

Attached is OpenDocument-v1.3-os.zip. It contains the modified files for you to review.

Patrick, would you see if someone can fix the level 2 numbering on the Annexes in Part 2. I can't figure out what I've broken. They just day Annex A and Annex B. Should be A.1, A.2

Some issues that I didn't address:

- I left the files in ODF format. Should I save as Word?

- I left the OASIS cover page and notices in place. Should I remove or put in an annex (e.g. 'Original Publication Information') and replace with an ISO cover page?

- I did find graphics but I did not extract them.

All the work was done with change tracking on so that you can see them.

If these look good, I will resolve all the changes and package it up for sending to ISO.

                Â---

Here is what I did:

- Downloaded OpenDocument-v1.3-os.zip, current OS package

- Deleted the HTML and PDF files from folders and left only the ODF.

Here are the changes I made, part by part. These reflect the list we put together.

---

** Part 1 Introduction*

o Craft a scope section? The problem is that ISO requires a scope section that is clause 1. Creating that will force the rest of the standard to be renumbered.

 - Changed the existing Scope section from 1.2 to be clause 1. Changed headings of remaining sections to be 2., 3., 4. Since this is a short, intro document, the renumbering probably does no harm.

o Replace acknowledgement section with pointer to the OASIS standard

 - Replaced the list with "For a list of those who participated in the creation of this specification, see https://docs.oasis-open.org/office/OpenDocument/v1.3/os/part1-introduction/OpenDocument-v1.3-os-part1-introduction.html#__RefHeading__1477_174928413";

o Change âAppendixâ to âAnnexâ

 - Changed Appendix A to Annex A

o Make non-normative references a bibliography

 - No non-normative references. Deleted the section

o Fix normative reference section

 - Added the ISO introductory text.

o Fix table/figure numbering

 - No tables or figures in part 1.

----

** Part 2 Packages*

o Craft a scope section?

 - No Scope section existed in the document. Did not create one. Adding a new clause 1 would force renumbering of the entire document and probably break many of the hyperlinks.

o Replace acknowledgement section with pointer to the OASIS standard

 - No acknowledgements section in the document.

o Change âAppendixâ to âAnnexâ

 - Changed Appendix A to Annex A. These are the Annexes whose numbering needs fixing

o Make non-normative references a bibliography

 - Moved 2 references to new Bibliography section at the end of the document. Replaced with text to see the Bibliography so that remaining sections would not be renumbered

o Fix normative reference section
 - No change needed to the section.

o Fix table/figure numbering

 - No change needed. Tables / figures titled correctly.

o Save all graphics into separate files

 - Did not save out the graphics

----

** Part 3 schemas*

o Craft a scope section?

 - No Scope section existed in the document. Did not create one. Adding a new clause 1 would force renumbering of the entire document and probably break many of the hyperlinks.

o Replace acknowledgement section with pointer to the OASIS standard

 - No acknowledgements section in the document.

o Change âAppendixâ to âAnnexâ

 - Changed Appendix A to Annex A

o Make non-normative references a bibliography

 - Moved 2 references to new Bibliography section at the end of the document. Replaced with text to see the Bibliography so that remaining sections would not be renumbered

o Fix normative reference section
 - No change needed to the section.

o Fix table/figure numbering

 - Tables / figures titled correctly.

o Save all graphics into separate files

 - Did not save out the graphics

----

** Part 4 Formulas*

o Craft a scope section? Problem was ISO requires that to be clause 1 so the rest of the standard would be renumbered

 - Moved 3 references to new Bibliography section at the end of the document. Replaced with text to see the Bibliography so that remaining sections would not be renumbered

o Fix normative reference section

 - Added ISO text for normative references section.

o Fix table/figure numbering

 - Tables / figures titled correctly.

o Save all graphics into separate files

 - Did not save graphics.

Let me know what you think.

/chet
