MINUTES OF PACIFIC UBL TC MEETING TUESDAY 24 APRIL 2007 ATTENDANCE Jon Bosak (chair) G. Ken Holman Tim McGrath (vice chair) Andy Schoka STANDING ITEMS Additions to the calendar: http://ibiblio.org/bosak/ubl/calendar.htm JB: It was great meeting with the Washington DC SGML/XML Users' Group; thanks to BH for setting this up. Take-away from the Collaborative Expedition Workshop: we need to work for U.S. adoption by talking to individual agencies rather than looking to the FEA as a top-down exercise. Subcommittee report: PSC TM: Meeting Monday. Subcommittee report: TSC AS: Nothing recently; meeting likely next week. Review of Atlantic call No comments. UBL TC MEETING IN MANHATTAN 7-11 MAY 2007 Status and planning: A revised preliminary agenda containing the results of this discussion will be made available shortly. GKH: Have posted a number of code-list related documents in preparation for the meeting in Manhattan: "UBL 2.0 code list support package uploaded" http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200704/msg00024.html First version of the CL support package; plan is to wordsmith in Manhattan and then add to Support Page. Contains all of the artefacts used to create the second pass XSLT validation. "Data entry of coded values for UBL or any XML document when using the UBL Methodology for Code List and Value Validation" http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200704/msg00025.html Data entry when using the methodology: how to take advantage of the ability to use different versions or subsets of code lists at different places in an instance (different dropdowns depending on where you are in the document). "GKH's latest thoughts on UBL modeling, deployment, customization and minor versioning" http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200704/msg00027.html Input on the customization document, taking into account the discussions in Singapore regarding the distinction between model-level compatibility and document-level conformance; input to a unifying theory for discussion and inclusion in the document the NDR editors are working on. "UBL 2.0 XPath files published with revised XPath file document model" http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200704/msg00028.html Revised version of the XPath files (enumeration of the info items for all the UBL 2 document models). The XPath XSD has been revised to optimize file size, and now all the XPath files in support of exhaustive enumeration are published. "Two new documents re: UBL Methodology for Code List and Value Validation" http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl/200704/msg00031.html These two new documents provide a case study of what other standards efforts need to do in order to deploy genericode and UBL's CL methodology. ACTION: All F2F participants to have read these documents before the meeting. UBL TC MEETING IN EUROPE 24-28 SEPTEMBER 2007 Nothing new; location still uncertain (Stockholm vs. Madrid), but not the schedule. SUPPORT PAGE SUBMISSION UBL: An Introduction Language: Italian Modality: class, slides, online course in preparation Author: Arianna Brutti This Italian-language course, sponsored by ENEA (the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment) and funded by the government of the Emilia-Romagna region, is free and lasts about an hour. It can be arranged on demand by Universities and other institutions. Contents: introduction to UBL (what UBL is, its objective, its approach and its reference sources), practical use of UBL (structure of the messages and of the component libraries, reference business collaborations and business documents supported by UBL 2.0), UBL contextualization (why and how). The slides used during the course will shortly be available online. http://spring.bologna.enea.it/ubl-italia/imple/pgcl.asp?lingua=en&p=139&nomenu=1 AGREED to add this course to the Support Page. AGREED to add the Code List Support Package (see above) to the Support Page. ACTION: JB to change the URL for the XPath files to a new URL provided in the email noted above. ACTION: JB to change the URL for the UBL Code List and Value Validation Methodology from 22591 to 23703. AGREED to add a reference to the case study (see above) to the Support Page in the same paragraph as the reference to the CL methodology: "related case study" (not the same as the entry for the CL support files). OTHER ACTION ITEMS ACTION: TM to finish editing the Danish implementation guidelines. In progress. OTHER BUSINESS GKH: How can an observer in the TC become a voting member in an SC? JB: The person must change his TC status from observer to member via the kavi interface (in order to comply with OASIS IP policy). This TC membership then allows him to add himself to the SC as a voting member. Note that voting membership in the TC is not a prerequisite for voting membership in the SC. TM: We have been advised that CCTS 3 is entering its second public review period. TM/AS: Intend to submit separate personal comments. Jon Bosak Chair, OASIS UBL TC
