Thanks for the suggestion. I've had a browse over the source. It seems like any reference to the embedded DocBook XSL is via Files, which is something I want to avoid. Ideally, I'd like to get this to run "out of the JAR". Am I missing some code in ant4docbook that would demonstrate that approach?

The next step is to use xsltng + an html to pdf converter (chromium cef pdf?).

For the moment, at least, I'd like to see if I can get to PDF via FO, which means the v1 or v2 stylesheets.
