Description
At the November 3rd, 2011 meeting of the OASIS Reference Information Model (RIM) Subcommittee, the members discussed the following topics:
1. TOPIC: What files should be referenced in the request to OASIS staff for processing a Committee Specification Draft, specifically the DE 2.0? (Answer: At this meeting, the suggestion was to include a zip file containing just the core schema in separate files, along with the normative specification document and perhaps the pdf, see Werner’s submission as a good model. [Update: However, over the subsequent week or two, the discussion continued, and the decision was made, at least for the DE 2.0, to upload a zip containing (a) the normative .odt document; (b) the core schema with supporting schema; and (c) the examples with their supporting schema. The reason was that all of this is needed for the DE 2.0 schema and examples to validate and that developers need validatable schema and examples to do an effective review of a specification.])
2. TOPIC: Is there a reusable “pattern” for how to use the EDXL family of standards and related standards for overall use of emergency services? (Answer: Rex is working to develop such a pattern at the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC). The work includes templates and recipes for how to use these standards on a regular basis and get work done faster. The RIM work, including the reference model under development, will help to inform the work being done at the NCOIC. Rex will keep us updated on the progress of the NCOIC initiative.)
