OASIS Electronic Procurement Standardization TC

FAQ

  1. What is electronic procurement?

The term, electronic procurement, refers to the end-to-end process of sourcing for, contracting with, buying, managing, receiving, and paying for items throughout the supply chain via electronic means.

  2. What does the OASIS EPS Technical Committee do?

The OASIS EPS TC is researching, gathering, and assembling eprocurement business processes and standards currently used in industry, government, and suppliers. Committee members work with other OASIS TCs and standards developers in an attempt to move all processes and standards organizations toward one global eprocurement standard. If the TC identifies a gap where necessary standards do not yet exist, it will recommend that OASIS consider taking on that development. The OASIS EPS TC itself, however, does not exist to write standards.

  3. What has the OASIS EPS TC accomplished to date?

An environmental scan has been started to identify the global organizations - within and outside of OASIS - that have developed processes and standards to assist in electronic procurement.

  4. What are the next steps?

The OASIS EPS TC is beginning to assemble the data found to determine potential liaisons. In some cases, additional information is needed before the TC can complete a gap analysis.
