Use Case Sub-committee Report
----------------------------------------

The chair reported that Krishna Sankar was unable to continue participation in the TC and editorship of the requirements document. Trevor Perrin has taken over his role as editor.

Trevor Perrin presented the draft DSS requirements document. A number of issues arising from the document were discussed:

- Is there a requirements for CMS / PKCS #7 to be explicitly supported?
There was a general view that there should be support for these syntaxes, at least to the level of saying they are carried within the DSS protocol.

- Should support for XAdES be madated?
It was suggested that this should be a profile of DSS.

- Should there be a separate syntax for time-stamps or should this be a particular form of DSS signed data syntax? Views were expressed on both sides.

- Is there a requirement for linked time-stamps? Dimitri Andivahis was asked to submit an explanation of how linked time-stamps would be used.

Members of the TC were asked to review the requirements document and submit comments to the list.

It is planned to produce a revised draft for the next meeting.

Any Other Business
-------------------------

Nick Pope reported that the requirements document includes choices which are used by a system covered by patent applications in the name of his company Security & Standards Ltd. He will provide further information as soon as possible.

Meeting adjourned.
