The purpose of the NDR SC is to recommend to the TC rules and guidelines for normative-form schema design, instance design, and markup naming, and write and maintain documentation of these rules and guidelines.

This web page describes the UBL Naming and Design Rules Subcommittee that functioned from November 2001 through May 2004 to provide XML schema design rules for UBL 1.0. The document and mail archives associated with the work of the NDRSC have been maintained as historical artifacts relating to UBL 1.0 development, but the subcommittee is no longer active as a separate entity. Effective 1 June 2004, the development and maintenance of UBL Naming and Design Rules continues within the UBL TC itself.
