Description

At the March 6, 2014 meeting of the Reference Information Model Subcommittee, the members discussed the following topics:

1.TOPIC: NIEM Adapters Supporting ISE Integration into EM Domain – Is there a good opportunity to support integrating the Information Sharing Environment into the Emergency Management Domain using NIEM Adapters? Answer – Yes. The consensus of the Reference Information Model (RIM) subcommittee was that the NIEM adapter concept and implementation is a good one and workable for us. We launched action items to do the CAP 1.2 and DE 2.0 NIEM Adapters. The overall recommendation would be to EMTC that the development and inclusion of adapters be a regular part of our standards development and schema release process.

2. TOPIC: EDXL in Smart Devices Reachout – Are there next steps for exploring the opportunity to ensure Smart Devices can natively speak EDXL? Answer: Yes. The individuals impacted in an emergency need an ability to communicate emergency information through their smart devices natively. A modified, agile version of EDXL might be one proposed outcome to address manufacturer’s needs. Elysa will arrange a reachout meeting with some key participants to advance the discussion.
