Description

This position paper describes a potential new world of emergency management enabled by integrating the Emergency Data Exchange Language (EDXL) natively into smart devices. Ordinary citizens, like you and me, will be empowered to receive and to share our own emergency information, using standardized interoperable message formats, with relatives, friends, neighbors, emergency managers, and health and law enforcement officials. EDXL supports a wide range of key emergency messages, including alerts, hospital availability, patient tracking, resource management, and electronic message packaging and addressing based on geographic area, roles, and keywords. You are welcome to join a partnership among smart device manufacturers, emergency managers and standards developers such as OASIS to enable and enter this new world.
