Minutes

1. Roll Call

Ken Baclawski, Eric Chan, Laura Dragan, Patrick Durusau, Peter Yim

2. [Ken] Minutes of the meeting on August 8.

Patrick requested that the minutes either be posted shortly after the meeting or else as an independent Meeting Note so that it is not confused with the agenda.  Ken will try to do the former, but if it is not feasible will do the latter.

There were no amendments to the minutes.  They were approved unanimously.

3. [Eric and Patrick] Discussion of open JIRA issues.

Patrick suggested that we adopt the same workflow as OData for handling issues:

https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/odata/document.php?document_id=46690

This will be on the agenda for the next meeting.

Various ICOM issues are either new or open.  It was agreed that ICOM-2, ICOM-3, ICOM-4, and ICOM-8 should be closed.  However, some of the members do not yet have full access privileges to JIRA.  Ken will request these privileges.  The issues will be discussed and status changes will be made at the next TC meeting.  In particular, Ken will be adding detailed comments to ICOM-5 on the tools used for generating and validating RDF and OWL.

4. [Ken] Article for submission to the WISE2012 Workshop: Engineering the Semantic Enterprise (ESE2012).

This article was discussed at length and many updates were made.  The updates in

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LH2-odtpeA17uJEkZbkKwUeGWryag-ZFH2xoN4YQezU/edit?ndplr=1&pli=1

have been incorporated in the original document (in LaTeX format).  Additional changes will be done in "round-robin" fashion in the following order: Laura, Eric, Patrick.  Always send your changes back to Ken so that the changes can be tracked.

Ken will request a subversion repository for the TC so that this will be easier to do in the future.

5. [Peter] Discussion of the joint virtual sessions with Ontolog, OASIS and OMG ODM.  They are tentatively scheduled to occur on Thursday 25 October 2012a and Thursday 1 November 2012, both at 9:30am PST (12:30pm EST).

This was only briefly discussed.  This will be earlier on the agenda at the next TC meeting so that it will be more thoroughly discussed.

6. Issues for the translation to OWL as part of ICOM v2 and for the java.net article series.
 (a) bi-directional relationships: how should they be specified in the standards document?
 (b) ambiguities: icom_content:Attachment is ambiguous. Should there be a policy for these?
 (c) disjointness conditions: how should they be specified?
 (d) modules: The modules do not coincide with the namespaces.
 (e) description: The description is out of date with the rest of the standard.
 (f) annotation properties for relating classes and properties with their metadata.
 (g) additional property type "Any".

There was not enough time to discuss this.  However, Eric made a number of suggestions on the chat room that should be addressed.  Ken suggested that it be posted as a JIRA issue.
