The DITA Learning and Training content sub-committee is glad to say that the new DITA 1.3 includes new support for developing educational content that meets diverse needs of education professionals. New in DITA 1.3 is better support for block content in assessment items and new support for learning object maps.

DITA 1.3 continues to include the strong support first released in DITA 1.2 for structured learning content, with specific topic types for learning overviews, content, summaries, assessments and plans. Learning maps provide for organizing and sequencing learning content into instructional modules. Learning interactions include support for basic quiz and assessment items. Finally, the DITA support for learning metadata follows industry best practices for learning objects.
