CAP 1.0 promises to fundamentally change the way emergency alerting and public warning are approached. As CAP matures, many opportunities for refinement will be discovered and, hopefully, applied to future versions of the OASIS specification. In the meantime, in CAP 1.0 we have a tested platform for urgent real-world applications and a framework for the practical experience that will lead us toward those refinements.

Given the numerous successful demonstrations of CAP-based interoperability by a variety of implementers in both controlled and field applications, and considering the very limited number of specific changes in the CAP message design produced by nine months of committee process, I believe it's time to get CAP 1.0 "on the street" so we can start learning the lessons only experience will teach.
