Overview

The OASIS BIAS Integration TC complements the efforts of the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS), www.incits.org, to provide the biometrics and security industries with a documented, open framework for deploying and invoking identity assurance capabilities that can be readily accessed as services. The OASIS BIAS Integration TC defines and describes methods and bindings by which the INCITS BIAS framework can be used within XML-based transactional Web services and service-oriented architectures.

INCITS BIAS DOCUMENT PUBLISHED
***The INCITS BIAS standard has now been pbulished as ANSI INCITS 442-2008, American National Standard for Information Technology - Biometric Identity Assurance Services (BIAS). It is available for purchase from Techstreet. This document is the sister standard to the OASIS BIAS Messaging Protocol, defining the higher level requirements and architecture, biometric operations, and data elements. It is a normative reference within the BIAS SOAP Profile being developed by this TC.***

WEBINAR MATERIALS AVAILABLE
Presentations from the 11 July 2007 OASIS Security Webinar, Day 3 - Biometric Security Roles & Resources, are available in the BIAS TC documents folder. Additionally, an online recording of the full webinar is also available for replay.

STATUS

The TC is in the process of developing a draft standard "BIAS Messaging Protocol" and the associated WSDL. The current drafts can be found in the Documents folder. Updates are posted at approximately monthly intervals.

The companion INCITS document, upon which this standard is dependent for definition of biometric operations, is also progressing and is nearing completion. Current drafts of this document can be found in the INCITS M1 document register (search for "BIAS"). As a liaison to the INCITS group, this TC is expected to review and comment on this "sister" standard as it evolves.

TC meetings are held via telecon approximately monthly. See the TC calendar for upcoming meetings.
