OASIS TC LIGHTNING ROUNDS
Monday, 16 April and Tuesday, 17 April

The OASIS Symposium will again feature an overview of the TCs, by the TCs—lightning round updates on each OASIS Committee. It promises to be a great opportunity to learn what the TCs are accomplishing, find out the status of related work, provide input, identify areas for cross-TC communication, and build support. Each OASIS Committee will be asked to designate one representative to deliver a three-minute presentation on its work. Slides will be compiled and posted on the OASIS site following the event.

TABLE-TOP EXHIBITS

Once again, Symposium sponsors will have the opportunity to showcase standards-related products and services and provide information of interest to attendees in a table-top exhibit area. The exhibits will be accessible by all attendees throughout the event and highlighted during special networking functions. Space is limited; for more information on sponsoring, contact Tanya Bosse.

Current event sponsors include: BEA Systems, Changfeng Alliance, EDS, IBM, Primeton, SAP, and Sun Microsystems.

BIRDS-OF-A-FEATHER (BoFs)

Birds-of-a-Feather sessions will be held during the Symposium luncheons. Luncheon BoF sign-ups will be provided each day in the registration area. If you are interested in hosting a BoF, please submit your idea in advance using the online registration form or post your request onsite in the registration area. A final list will be posted each day.

BOOK TABLE DISPLAY & RAFFLE

There is a growing body of books that feature technical and executive-level information on OASIS Standards and specifications. The Symposium Book Table will showcase these books at a display in the registration area. This is not a book sale, but an opportunity to give attendees a first-hand look at the range of available titles. A handout listing all books, including information on purchasing options, will be provided. Books will be on display during the Symposium and raffled off to attendees at the end of the event.

Authors, publishers, or collectors interested in donating books should contact events@oasis-open.org.

INTRODUCTION TO THE OASIS OPEN STANDARDS PROCESS
Wednesday, 18 April
10:00-11:00 AM

Scott McGrath, OASIS Senior Director of Member Services, will provide an overview of Open Standards, the lifecycle of an Open Standard, the OASIS Standards development process, liaising with other Standards organizations, and how to bring new work to OASIS. This briefing is geared toward Symposium attendees who are new to OASIS.

OASIS AGM MEETING
Tuesday, 17 April
5:15-6:15 PM

The OASIS Plenary and Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the Symposium. This once-a-year event provides a members-only opportunity to review and respond to a state-of-the-union address presented by the OASIS Board of Directors. The AGM will be followed by an evening reception offering the perfect place to network with OASIS members, directors, and staff.

Feel free to submit your questions for the AGM in advance to member-services@oasis-open.org.

All OASIS members are strongly encouraged to attend this AGM. There is no cost to attend the meeting; however, advance sign-up is required.

OASIS BOARD MEETING: OPEN TO MEMBERS
Wednesday, 18 April and Thursday, 19 April

As part of the OASIS Board and Management ongoing efforts to enable greater communication, all members are invited to attend the quarterly meeting of the OASIS Board of Directors. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the Symposium, from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM on 18 April and from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on 19 April. Specific times for the open Board sessions will be announced in the months to come.

This is a new opportunity to observe the governance of the Consortium first-hand, appreciate the motivations and commitment of Board directors, and witness the dialogue informing the decisions that affect all members. An agenda for the meeting, which will include time for member questions and comments, will be posted in early April. To ensure adequate space is allocated, members should indicate their intentions to attend the Board meeting on the Symposium registration form.

The open OASIS Board meeting represents another example of the channels created in the past year to facilitate greater member and public feedback. Members are encouraged to continue to use the Member-Discuss and OASIS-Board-Comment mail lists to share ideas and concerns with others and with the Board.

OASIS TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS

OASIS will host Technical Committee meetings on 18th, 19th, and 20th of May. A complete list of TC meetings will be posted on the TC Information Page (as they become known). This page also includes meeting space reservation information. Questions regarding the meetings may be directed to the Manager of Events at events@oasis-open.org.
