Introduction from the PKI Member Section Group
Speaker: Peter Alterman, Chair of the U.S. Federal PKI Policy Authority,
National Institutes of Health; June Leung, Security and Business Recovery
Department, FundSERV, Inc.; John Sabo, Director, Security and Privacy
Initiatives, CA, Inc.; and Ann Terwilliger, Director of Security Projects - PKI, Visa International
In this opening session, the members of the OASIS PKI Member Section
Steering Committee will introduce the focus of this special PKI Workshop,
highlighting PKI deployments of business/government applications and systems
across Europe. From this workshop, the group hopes to gain an understanding
of common issues impacting the business use, interoperability, legal and
policy implications arising from actual PKI implementations. As a result of
these 'real-world' initiatives, the group will assess the current use of
PKI, and determine how best to direct resources and products of the OASIS
PKI Member Section in the future.

Why Mobile Data Security Solutions Should Be PKI and Token Enabled
Speaker: Frank Jorissen, VP International Business Development, SafeBoot International BV In order to control access to sensitive mobile data, strong authentication
methods are commonly used, such as smart cards, USB tokens, biometrics and
when allowable, e-ID cards. Solutions using eID cards and other
PKI-enabled smart cards or (USB) tokens in the context of Windows XP logon
will be explained in detail, as well as, using eID cards and other tokens
efficiently in two factor pre-boot authentication (F2-PBA) environments.
Also, the speaker will explain how such applications can easily support a
wide variety of tokens and eID cards through the use of PKI middleware
that facilitate integration and maintenance.

This presentation outlines the key drivers for mobile signature services and
provides a short overview of the ETSI - MSS concept and how the SIM card and
the mobile network operator's infrastructure plays a key role in enabling
third parties like goverments to rely on strong authentication and digital
signing without distributing their own PKI smart cards. Finally, it

Legislation and Market Forces: PKI Drivers for the U.S. Mortgage Industry
Speaker: R.J. Schlecht, Director, Industry Technology Security & Compliance,
Mortgage Bankers Assoication
For the U.S. mortgage industry, an industry that processed $2.9 trillion in
mortgage loan originations in 2005 and that is moving toward replacing
highly paper-intensive workflow processes with electronic-based processes,
the "killer app" for PKI has come in the form of legislation and mortgage
industry market forces. This presentation will examine in further detail how
legislation and market forces (and specifically the eRegistry and Electronic
Notary Seal) have increased the adoption of PKI within the U.S. mortgage
industry, and offer suggestions for other industries contemplating similar
PKI adoption issues.

PKI: The Key to Electronic Identity Initiatives?
Speaker: Stijn Bijnens, Senior Vice President, Identity Management,
Cybertrust
Identity theft and fraud are critical challenges to the integrity of
on-line business, and government-to-citizen services. Today governments
are driving the adoption of PKI through smart card projects. In the USA
for example, the HSPD-12 PIV Program will put a smart identity card into
the hands of every federal employee. PKI provides a legal framework for
governments and corporations to transact business on-line. In Belgium, the
National ID card is in production distribution to all citizens. This talk
will compare and contrast the different models in use for managing
credentials, illustrating the talk with specific examples from different
eID initiatives. This talk will compare and contrast the different models
