60-day Public Review for #TOSCA V1.0 COS01

Members of the OASIS Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications (TOSCA) TC [1] have recently approved a Special Majority Ballot [2] to advance Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications Version 1.0 as a Candidate OASIS Standard (COS). The COS now enters a 60-day public review period in preparation for a member ballot to consider its approval as an OASIS Standard.

Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications Version 1.0
Candidate OASIS Standard 01
11 June 2013

Specification Overview:

TOSCA will enable the association of higher-level operational behaviors with cloud infrastructure management. This capability will greatly facilitate much higher levels of cloud service/solution portability. To accomplish this, the specification introduces the formal description of Service Templates, including their structure, properties, and behavior.

The concept of a “service template” is used to specify the “topology” (or structure) and “orchestration” (or invocation of management behavior) of IT services. Typically, services are provisioned in an IT infrastructure and their management behavior must be orchestrated in accordance with constraints or policies from there on, for example in order to achieve service level objectives.

Additional information on the TOSCA specification can be found in the TC’s FAQ [3].

Public Review Period:

The 60-day public review starts 15 July 2013 at 00:00 GMT and ends 13 September 2013 at 23:59 GMT.

This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.
