G. Ken Holman

G. Ken Holman was recognized as an OASIS Distinguished Contributor in 2012. He has been actively involved in OASIS virtually since its founding as SGML Open. A member of the W3C Working Group that developed XML from SGML, Ken founded the OASIS XML and XSLT/XPath Conformance Committees in the early days of OASIS, and participated on the OASIS Exchange Table Model Committee and the OASIS Process Advisory Committee among others. More recently he founded the OASIS Code List Representation Technical Committee and is very active on the OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) Technical Committee as a co-editor of UBL 2.0 and subsequent revisions. He is the author and maintainer of the OASIS Work Product Template for DocBook, allowing project editors to write and publish their OASIS specifications in DocBook XML. Ken graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science in 1981. He and his wife, Kathryn, together founded Crane Softwrights Ltd. in 1997 and run an international XML training and consulting business from their home office, with a particular dedication to volunteer international standards work in OASIS and ISO.
