EU Open Source Policy Summit

2022 will be the eighth year Open Forum Europe hosts its Open Source policy event in the first week of February. What started as a 10-person meeting of minds on the then-niche subject of Open Source policy is now a successful annual gathering of policymakers, Open Source businesses, community members, developers, foundations and those involved with diverse digital policy subjects. This year’s agenda will be packed with discussions on the most burning digital policy questions and will put open source in a broader European and global technological context.

International Conference on the EU Cybersecurity Act

The 2022 International Conference on the EU Cybersecurity Act has been developed to help standards community prepare for the evolution of risk-based frameworks meant to address market fragmentation in the EU. The EU Cybersecurity Act, now in the early stages of development, will eventually create a wide-ranging, independent European body of cybersecurity regulation as part of the “single digital market” goal. The OSLCFest is the best place to learn first hand about OSLC solutions, as well as related open-source projects and standards. The 3rd OSLCFest 2021 will take place virtually on November 2-4, with 2-hour slots each day starting at 14:00 UTC. This free event will be broadcast on YouTube Live. This will be the 3rd edition of the OSLCFest following the successful event in 2018 and in 2020.

2021 Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) Implementation Workshop

The 2021 Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) Implementation Workshop will be 13-14 October,
13:00 – 17:15 CEST (Geneva, Switzerland, time). The Workshop will be conducted as an online Webinar and call-in instructions will be sent to all registered participants.

CAP, designated as ITU Recommendation X.1303, is recognized internationally as the key
standard for societies to achieve all-hazards, all-media public alerting for emergencies.
CAP Implementation Workshops provide a forum for implementers of CAP and associated
organizations to discuss how best to expand adoption of the CAP standard and to share
practices among users of the standard. The Workshop is co-sponsored by the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the OASIS Open organization, and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
